I love teaching middle schoolers Spanish! The sooner students can learn a foreign language the better. That's why I promote starting in middle school, instead of waiting until high school. With constant in class participation and a little daily review tweens "soak up the language like a sponge".
My teaching style and techniques are evolving daily as I learn through professional development, by studying my peers in the district, and most importantly by listening to my students. I believe a successful foreign language classroom is keeping the students motivated. My personal style of teaching brings enthusiasm, cultural elements, and technology into the classroom to increase learning motivation. I try to teach with a contagious smile and open personality that helps me to interact with my students as I guide them through their learning process.
My objective as a teacher is to motivate my students toward a level of independence where they develop a desire to learn and think for themselves.
This is my 11th year teaching at Twality! My treasured memories are having past students visit and tell me how much I helped start their language journey, plus hearing from THS and TuHS teachers that my alumni are top of their Spanish 2 classes!
In my free time I love to travel and share that passion with students!!!! I organize Spring Break educational tours for students, check out our trip pages above. If traveling is not in your family's budget or schedule at this time I encourage students to apply to be an exchange student in high school or college and host a foreign exchange student.
